Ground Tying 101 - Moon Makeover Training Day 1

3/4/2016

For our first day of training in preparation for the 2016 Retired Racehorse Project Thoroughbred Makeover, Moon and I started with lessons in ground tying.

Over the next month, we will be focusing on ground work and will not start any work under saddle until April.

It's a long video, but hopefully you will find it valuable to help you teach your horse how to ground tie, and as always, feel free to ask questions in the comments.

AWESOME! Thank you....are you going to do this for the whole training? I am struggling with what to do each day and my OTTB mare is getting bored I think. I have been doing groundwork with her for 2 years but only a little riding. Just not sure how to go from point A to point B to finally being able to show again. Thank you for this great video! It was crystal clear.

Hello Elise,

I will most definitely be sharing these updates on a regular basis - at least once per week here on the blog and closer to daily on the Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ottbtraining

I love that you've been focused on ground work; you must have a great bond with your mare now so it's time to get you feeling confident enough to focus on being the saddle again :-)
